# Canvas deadline reminders, sent as texts

> Yes, you can get your Canvas deadlines as texts. Sign in to Canvas once on Dash's secure page and Dash reads your courses, saves every due date, and texts you before each one. It works the same way with Brightspace (D2L), Moodle and Blackboard.

## Example

- **Student:** can you just pull my stuff from canvas
- **Dash:** yes. here's a secure sign-in page for your school's canvas. I never see your password
- **Student:** ok signed in
- **Dash:** got your 5 courses. 23 deadlines this term, the next one is your ECON 101 problem set due friday 11:59pm
- **Dash:** I'll text you the day before each one. want a morning briefing too on days something's due?
- **Student:** yeah

## How do I get Canvas notifications as text messages?

1. **Ask Dash to connect.** Text Dash that you use Canvas, Brightspace, Moodle or Blackboard. It sends a link to a secure sign-in page.
2. **Sign in like normal.** You sign in with your school account on that page. Dash never sees what you type.
3. **Get texts before due dates.** Dash reads your courses and deadlines and texts you before each one, in the same thread as your friends.

## Which learning systems does Dash work with?

If your course isn't in one of these, send Dash the syllabus as a photo or PDF instead.

- Canvas
- Brightspace (D2L)
- Moodle
- Blackboard

## Why texts instead of the app's own notifications?

Learning system emails and push alerts pile up, and they all look the same. Dash sends one text when something actually needs you, and stays quiet during your quiet hours.

You can also ask it things the app won't answer in one place, like "what's due across all my courses this week?"

## Questions

### Does Dash see my school password?

No. You sign in on a secure page and Dash never sees your password. It's stored encrypted only to sign you back in.

### What if a professor changes a due date?

Dash picks up changes in your learning system, or you can text it the new date. It moves your reminders either way.

### Can Dash submit assignments for me?

No. Dash never writes, answers or submits graded work. It tells you what's due and helps you plan and study.

### How do I disconnect my account?

Text "settings" to see what's connected and disconnect it any time.
